Paedophile police special constable who used his uniform to gain entry to a school and a sixth-form college is jailed for child sex crimes

A paedophile policeman who used his uniform to gain unauthorised access to schools has been jailed for sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl.

America Luke Richardson, a former special police constable with Greater Manchester Police, abused his position to try to meet children and had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

The 22-year-old was today jailed for five years after he admitted seven counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of meeting a child following grooming and one count of taking indecent photographs of a child.

Richardson was suspended from the police in January 2014 after it emerged he was using his role inappropriately and he had entered a school on patrol without authorisation.

It was later discovered that, despite his expulsion from the force, he had used stolen police uniform to get into a sixth form college.

In 2015, an investigation began into child abuse claims and Richardson's computer, phone and tablets were seized.

The investigation discovered the former special constable had been meeting up with a 14-year-old girl from Essex.

The confiscated phone and computer equipment revealed 4,000 messages had been sent to the girl in Essex and the victim told detectives that the pair had met up in a hotel booked by Richardson.

In December 2015 he was charged with a number of sexual offences and was remanded into custody. He was handed the five year sentence at Manchester Crown Court today.

After Richardson was jailed, Manchester Police Superintendent Mark Kenny said: 'I am pleased that America Luke Richardson is now off the streets and unable to harm any more young girls.

'We are continuing to investigate the possibility that Richardson may have more victims and we are appealing for anyone who may have been approached inappropriately by him online, or in person to come and speak to police.

'Richardson joined GMP in May 2013, as soon as it was discovered that Richardson was behaving inappropriately he was removed from all duties.'
